Photographer and film director Mika Ninagawa, as part of her creative team EiM, takes on a new challenge “NINAGAWA Mika with EiM: Lights of the beyond, Shadows of this world” which take place at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art from Saturday, January 11th to Sunday, March 30th, 2025. This exhibition will be the largest exhibition by Mika Ninagawa in the Kansai region to date.
The exhibition will feature installations created with original videos and three-dimensional displays. Mika Ninagawa, who has also served as a “Visit Kyoto Ambassador Of Kyoto City,” drew inspiration from the city to collaborate with EiM on a series of ten Japanese scroll painting experiences.
In these chaotic times marked by the pandemic and global conflicts, the importance of well-being is increasingly recognized worldwide. People now find it essential to take time to reconnect with themselves. Through this “NINAGAWA Mika with EiM” exhibition, visitors will become the protagonists of a narrative-driven exhibition. By engaging with the artists’ inner worlds reflected in the works, they will be invited to explore their own inner selves, fostering a meaningful experience of confronting their existence and the world around them.
