The Triangle
Miyaki Ana: Bonding the Body
2021/6/29-2021/10/10
Venue [ The Triangle ]
-
Miyaki Ana treats her own body as the material for her practice in which she presents installations and performances with herself in the exhibition space. Deriving her work from everyday changes or conflict with life, she explores the interaction that arises between substance and the body.
This exhibition includes performances every Sunday, attempting through the artworks to visualize the forces that crisscross between the artistʼs own body and such objects as iron, cloth, and clay. What this unexpectedly reveals are our stereotypical images of the body: strength and frailty, femininity and masculinity, ugliness and beauty. Witness her search for a genuine physicality, one that is warmer, vulnerable, and very much not the “ideal” body.
The Triangle
The Triangle is a space newly created for the reopening of the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art. It aims to nurture emerging artists, especially those associated with Kyoto, and to provide opportunities for museum visitors to experience contemporary art. In order to connect the artist, museum, and viewer in a triangle and deepen those connections, the space hosts an eponymous series of special exhibitions and presents new artistic expression from Kyoto.Information
