Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art 1st Anniversary Exhibition

Venue [ Main Building(North Wing)1F ]

This museum opened in 1933 as the Kyoto Enthronement Memorial Museum of Art. The collection now holds about 3,800 pieces, having one of the largest collections of Japanese painting domestically, and moreover, contains numerous masterpieces of Japanese Western-style paintings, craftworks, and prints.
This time, celebrating the 1st anniversary of the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, the Dialogues with the Collection: 6 Rooms exhibition will be held, bringing out the hidden history and stories behind the exhibited works by having “dialogues” between specialists of different genres and time, each approaching the collection in various ways.
In the 6 rooms, contemporary artists, an architect, former curators of this museum who supported the initial and transitional stages of the museum, and an artist who influenced the uprising of Cubism in Japan, all will have “dialogues” with the collection, including an experimental attempt of exhibiting newly produced works inspired by the collection and the history of the museum. Please enjoy the newly fascinating appeal of the collection.
Participants in dialogues:
Takeuchi Katsutaro
Kato Kazuo
André Lhote
Aoki Jun
Miyanaga Aiko
Hiroi Nobuko
Takahashi KoheiInformation
